Hi, I’m Martin and I’m passionate about making cities more walkable, bikeable, and transit-friendly.
Cities are supposed to be built for people, but too often they are built around cars. And when we build with cars in mind instead of people, it’s easy to see the impacts. Streets will feel too unsafe to cross. Bicyclists are killed because they don’t have adequate protection. Bus stops will lack shelter, benches, and signage making it unappealing to take transit. That is why I constantly advocate to improve our streets with people in mind. Healthy cities are not overly-reliant on driving. They are designed to offer a range of mobility options for people of all abilities and backgrounds.
I have spent the last 10 years as a civil engineer and planner delivering both vertical and horizontal infrastructure with a focus on transportation. With experience in both project delivery and policy-making, I approach mobility initiatives with holistic thinking.
I earned a masters degree in urban/regional planning from UCLA, a masters in environmental engineering from Cal State Fullerton, and a bachelors degree in civil engineering from Cal State Northridge. I am a licensed civil engineer in the state of California and a certified planner. I am currently based in San Francisco, California.
